Everyone wishes they could take their dogs with them everywhere they go, they are after all your best friend :). Unfortunately, there are times when you can't and your furry friend will need to go to a Dog Kennel. And you want only the best for them, which NORSAH offers.
There are far more dogs in South Africa than Kennels, so please do not wait until the last minute to start calling dog boarding facilities, especially during the holidays, and we have a lot of holidays here.Planning ahead will also alow you to visit us and view our kennel facilities in person.
Exercise facilities are popular because they give your furry friends the freedom to run around, excersize and interact with the other dogs. All dogs at NORSAH are excersized twice a day and soothing music is played in cattery and kennel.
Please make sure all of your dog's vaccinations are up to date, as we require them. The most important Vaccines are those which protects against Distemper, Rabies and Bordetella (Kennel Cough).Anywhere dogs gather their is the risk of Kennel Cough which is an upper respiratory infection.
Kennel cough is very contagious, so it is best to visit your local vet to ensure your dog is vaccinated against this and other dog diseases. All dogs and cats must produce proof of up to date, valid annual vaccinations inlcuding kennel cough at least 10 days prior to entering the kennels. Failure to provide this information will result in the refusal of admission.
It is best to start your dog on a regimen of tick and flea preventatives before you check them into NORSAH Kennels. You might not always see it but fleas and ticks are a problem year-round, especially when you have so many dogs so close to each other. Discuss with your local vet or ask JP advice on which spot-on treatments or oral medications will serve your dog the best. There are amazing medications these days which protects your furry kid against both fleas and ticks for up to 12 weeks with just one dose. NORSAH Kennels administers medications including injectables.
Sometimes, a change in diet that comes with placing your dog in a kennels can upset your dog and even cause colitis which is an inflammation of the colon and rectum, so why not pack some holiday food for your pup. It is something you don;t want to panic about but you do want to understand it, prepare daily portions in small doggie bags or containers and label them with the appropriate serving size. Also, it is important to give NORSAH Kennels contact information for your veterinarian, yourself and perhaps even family member or friend who will be in the area during your dog's stay in case an emergency should occur.
Once you fetch your furry friend from their holiday spot at NORSAH inspect your dog once you arrive home. Check if everything is ok and maybe give them a welcome home bath and pampering.
Thank you guys for giving me peace of mind when I need to leave my boerboel somewhere :).
I chose NORSAH Kennels and Cattery just by a gut feeling. Knew nothing about them. I needed a good safe place for my doggie and 4 cats while I went overseas for a month. Friends were shocked because I'm far away in Muizenberg! My gut feeling was right. They're fantastic...
NORSAH Kennels and Cattery has taken care of my 2 dog children over weekends and holidays for the past 5 years. Just recently I left them there for almost 3 weeks, whilst on holiday. My dogs were cared for and well fed. When I collect them they seem happy and are always happy to see the staff when we drop them, which is proof that the staff treat them well. I will recommend them to anyone.
