St Lukes Hospice
St Lukes Hospice cares for over 500 homecare patients every month through our satellite community day hospices located in certain areas of greater Cape Town and we have a 10-bed in-patient unit in Kenilworth and Khayelitsha, where patients can be admitted for a maximum of two weeks.
They employ highly dedicated and qualified nurses, doctors, social workers, spiritual counsellors and community health workers – most with expert palliative care training – and our volunteers assist staff members in various aspects of care and fundraising.
Their services include quality nursing support, physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual care and bereavement support for patients and their families.
Women and Men Against Child Abuse
Established in 1997, WMACA is very outspoken in its role as advocacy organisation, challenging inadequacies in the justice system and raising awareness about the many and complicated issues around child abuse and its effects on the victims.
Under the umbrella body of WMACA there are two Kidz Clinics – in Alexandra and Boksburg – as well as various prevention and diversion programmes to assist abused children.
Women and Men Against Child Abuse is a non-profit Child Protection Organisation committed to fighting for the rights of the child and to end the abuse of children in South Africa, through a multifaceted, dynamic and aggressive offensive against any form of abuse and gender violence.
Sea Rescue South Africa
Sea Rescue is the charity that saves lives on South African waters, through Education, Prevention and Rescue. Donations and sponsorship cover our annual running costs. Our rescue crew, our technical experts and our board of Directors are also all unpaid volunteers.
Their team of water safety instructors visit schools to teach children what to do in an emergency and give them the confidence to initiate basic bystander Hand-Only CPR while they wait for the ambulance to arrive. This project targets disadvantaged youth, because statistically they are at risk.
They also host an online learning portal called BravoBravo where we share our training material with the public – some courses eg Skippers Training, are offered at no charge to the public.
National Institute for the Deaf
The National Institute for the Deaf (NID) was founded in 1881 as the Doofstommen Instituut. The establishment of the Institute was an answer to a shared dilemma faced by two reverends of the Dutch Reformed Church.
Both had Deaf congregants, but no idea how to serve them with the Word of God because they couldn’t communicate with them. The Institute was thus established to help Deaf people read and write so that they could read the Bible and also have access to the same rights as the hearing.
Some 135 years after the Doofstommen Instituut opened its doors, having seen many changes in its own history and that of the country it serves, NID has become a private, dynamic, innovative non-profit company.
I chose NORSAH Kennels and Cattery just by a gut feeling. Knew nothing about them. I needed a good safe place for my doggie and 4 cats while I went overseas for a month. Friends were shocked because I’m far away in Muizenberg! My gut feeling was right. They’re fantastic…

NORSAH Kennels and Cattery has taken care of my 2 dog children over weekends and holidays for the past 5 years. Just recently I left them there for almost 3 weeks, whilst on holiday. My dogs were cared for and well fed. When I collect them they seem happy and are always happy to see the staff when we drop them, which is proof that the staff treat them well. I will recommend them to anyone.
